Mazu
“This temple is located in my city, Taichung. It is a famous temple because it worships Mazu.”says Mei-Huei.
“Mazu? Who is he?” asks Sarah.
“Ha, ha! In fact, Mazu is a goddess who controls the weather and the ocean. She protects the safety of the fishermen. On every March, we even hold a majestic event called Mazu Patrol and Pilgrimage to celebrate her birthday and this is one of the important activities in Taiwanese society.”
“Wow, I have never heard of this before and it is hard to imagine what it could be.”
“It is a pity that you can’t participate it now, but don’t forget to come to Taiwan and experience it next time”, declares Mei-Huei smiling.
媽祖
「因為我住在台中，所以我想向妳介紹大甲鎮瀾宮。大甲鎮瀾宮，是因媽祖而聞名的一間廟宇。」
「媽祖？他是誰?」莎拉問。
「哈哈！事實上，媽祖是掌管天氣和海洋的女神，而她會保護漁民的安全。因為台灣四面環海，所以媽祖對台灣人民來說非常重要。」
莎拉帶著驚訝說：「哇！聽起來好有趣哦！」
「每年三月，我們甚至會舉辦盛大的媽祖繞境活動來慶祝她的生日，而這是台灣社會不可或缺的活動。」美慧接著說。
「哇！我從來沒聽過這些呢！好難想像是怎麼樣的活動呢！」
美慧燦爛的笑著說：「可惜妳參加不到今年的繞境活動，別忘了下次來台灣一定要體驗看看哦！」
Mazu
«Ce temple est situé dans ma ville, Taichung. Le temple est très connu puisqu’il rend un culte à Mazu.», dit Mei-Huei.
« Mazu? Qui est-ce? », demande Sarah.
« Ha, ha! En fait, Mazu est une déesse qui contrôle la météo et l’océan. Elle assure la protection des pêcheurs. À chaque mois de mars, on prépare un événement majestueux appelé La patrouille et le pèlerinage de Mazu pour célébrer son anniversaire. C’est l'une des activités les plus importantes de la société taïwanaise. »
« Wow, je n’ai jamais entendu parlé de ça avant. C’est difficile de s’imaginer ce que c’est.»
« Tu ne pourras pas y participer cette fois, c’est dommage. Mais n’oublie pas de faire l’expérience lors de ton prochain voyage à Taiwan. », répond Mei-Huei en souriant.
